Companies Reassure Parents That They Have Addressed The Baby Food Heavy Metal Crisis

Baby food manufacturers know they will be ostracised or worse if they do not take the lead and test their final products for heavy metals and arsenic

Monday, December 6, 2021 - The US Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) is at the forefront of promoting the legislation under consideration by Congress to force baby food manufacturers to heed toxic baby food warnings, and to remove traces of heavy metals and arsenic from their baby food and rice cereal products. The organization stresses that stricter regulations are needed on the final product of baby foods so that parents can be certain the food they are giving their loved ones is safe and pure. PIRG tells readers that the Congressional Report released on September 29, 2021, is of the highest concern to them and that all parents should be aware of the findings. PIRG reports: " A congressional report released Wednesday found the problem of toxic heavy metals in baby food is even worse than many suspected. The report says some baby food manufacturers didn't test baby food properly and didn't stop selling some foods with dangerous levels of inorganic arsenic. Other manufacturers, meanwhile, didn't do a good job testing for other heavy metals, including lead, cadmium, and mercury, the report said. " Some of the baby food manufacturers in the study represent the leading companies like Gerber, Nestle, and Danone. Heavy metal baby food attorneys are filing baby food lawsuits that represent families of children that have been developmentally disabled allegedly from the heavy metals that baby foods contain. PIRG thinks that The Baby Food Safety Act of 2021 is the next best chance to get toxic heavy metals and rice cereal arsenic removed from our children's diets.

The scathing Congressional report insists that baby food manufacturers play an active role and not just comply with stricter final product testing standards, but also remove baby food products that test positive for any trace of heavy metals or arsenic. Healthy Babies Bright Futures is one of the first companies to address the latest scientific findings of heavy metals in baby foods and arsenic in rice cereals. The company is calling for more transparency and testing of the baby food industry as being good for everyone, including baby food manufacturers whose brands will benefit from stricter baby food testing protocols. HBBF reassures parents that "We are hyper-aware of this issue and committed to testing (regularly) and thus made the decision to continually test all our products in a third-party laboratory with the most sensitive heavy metals test they offer." The company claims that their most recent testing found levels of heavy metals and arsenic that were below the new, stricter FDA threshold. The company says they don't use rice or fruit juices, and that any amounts of toxic heavy metals that are in their products occur naturally in the air, water, and soil, and are unavoidable. Reassuringly, the company tells readers that their heavy metal contaminates, “ (Are) on par with what you could expect to find in vegetables from the produce section of a grocer, or your local farm stand."
